“Life as a Magical Mystery Tour”

Melinda Morris Perrin, Keynote
Step out of the ordinary onto the path of spiritual growth. When you least expect it, you may experience the awareness of being truly present. Her own life has taken her on a mystical journey and she shares her stories and roadmaps which mark the way toward spiritual transformation.
Melinda Morris Perrin is a poet whose words reflect the interconnected web of life and the spiritual dimensions of nature. She is a member of the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady and continues to serve on the Wise Woman Council of the Central Midwest District’s Women and Religion Committee. A member of the Earth-centered Prairyerth UU Fellowship, she shared spiritual leadership with Jim Gillihan, the Keeper of Sitting Bull’s Pipe until 2002. A frequent speaker and teacher at conferences, universities, and religious institutions, Perrin was a presenter at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Cape Town, South Africa and keynote at University of Iowa’s Fall Colloquium. She is also a certified teacher of the Seneca Indian Wolf Clan Lodge, had a healing practice in the Midwest, and was a television producer for 40 years.

Workshops
Session 1: 10:15 - 11:45 am
Chakra Healing: Chakras are our energy centers. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura. Their function is to vitalize the physical body and bring about the development of our self-consciousness. They are associated with our physical, mental, and emotional interactions. This session will help you learn more about your own chakra balance, and teach you a bit about energizing certain areas of your life. Led by Chuck Davenport of Sacred Dragon Society.
She’s Got A Ticket to Ride: Dialogue and question this year's keynote. If time allows we will explore some experiential exercises to facilitate transformation. Led by Melinda Perrin.
Altar Your Life: Altars make concrete the abstract spiritual principles we are trying to manifest in our lives. Be it a group of shells that remind you of family and the vacation you took together or a picture of a calm landscape that reminds you to breathe deeply. Come join us as we create a group altar and guide you through the process of making a personal altar. Led by Jackie Clarke and Julie Daniel.
Session 2: 1:30 – 3:00 pm
Resolving Past Vows: Exploring promises, both intentinal and unintentional. We will examine how we have created restrictions on ourselves and use guided meditation to move beyond them. Led by Laura Hudson, LMT and Kiki Waldron.
Enchantments-Empowerment through Chanting: Enchant: to combine words and voice in order to charge a situation with intention. Chanting is an important aspect of meditation and ritual. This workshop (playshop?) will provide participants opportunity to share their voices, to teach and learn chants we have collected. Members are invited to make a joyful noise. Led by Alan Stillman.
Advanced Light Therapy and Whole Body Regeneration: How our bodies are designed to receive light and what occurs on a cellular level when they receive Light frequencies. With Advanced Light Therapy we can affect everything on a physical level as well as an emotional level. Creating the right cellular environment will allow us to truly “let go” of unwanted emotions, clean up the blood, as well as repair damaged vessels. Led by Jennifer Waters, Dipl.Ac., L.Ac.
Session 3: 3:15 - 4:45 pm
The Therapeutic and Spiritual Aspects of Hand Drumming: Let your spirit soar as your soul explores its most primal roots. A short discussion on how drumming is used in personal and spiritual endeavors, including meditation and fostering group dynamics is followed by a hands on drum circle. Bring your own drum or use one of mine. Led by Kiamarie Wolfe.
Yoga: Join breath, body, mind and spirit. A yoga practice can build balance, physically, mentally and emotionally, which can be a lifelong gift as we age. Please bring a yoga mat (loaner mats will be available) and wear clothing that is comfortable and allows you to move easily. Led by Julie Daniel.
Simple Abundance, Journeys to Wholeness: Based on the book “Simple Abundance” by Sarah Ban Breathnach, this interactive workshop explores the principles of Gratitude, Simplicity, Order, Harmony, Beauty, and Joy as a path to wholeness and spiritual growth. Led by Jody Brown.
