Just as the sun radiates sunrise rays to Earth, such energy was beaming into all our General Assembly ’06 activities.  This summer issue gives a sampling of that UU W&R fire.  Those five GA June days were a shining point in our ongoing legacy for liberating ways.  Now as we go shining, may the energy of intention illuminate each of our home world’s connections.  Sisters, *GO SHINING!

THIS GA  ISSUE’S THEME

Go Shining

Jim Scott’s worshipful celebration of James Lovelock’s “Gaia Hypothesis” that the Earth is one living organism, or as we UU’s celebrate it, the “interdependent web of all life,” showcased the folk singer at his most inspiring best.  Since the inside of Earth is as hot as the sun, we pictured ourselves as the mystical flames of energy burning on the outside, our lives embodying Spirit.  We are engaged in the continuing journey of creating our own UU mythology.  With the creative input of diversity, ours is a search for ecstasy and enlightenment.

“Singing The Journey”, a UU Ministry For the Earth work in progress tells us to address the fact that we Earthlings are participating in a mass extinction.  Gaia’s enclosed system of the water cycle includes our human bodies that are mostly water, which we take in and release back into the cycle.  We need to be healing for Earth.  In fact UU’s need an 8th Principle for actively resolving conflict in a healing, peaceful manner.  Peace – if you can’t find it, make it.  *GO SHINING!
